In Cambodia
In 2018, 40K partnered with the government of Cambodia and international NGO Room to Read to carry out a pilot-project in the province of Kampong Cham. This project involved three schools with a total of 225 students and 25 teachers in Kampong Cham province.
Baseline test results from the pilot showed a significant acceleration of English learning outcomes among participating student participants relative to control groups (26% after just eight months’ participation).
In 2019, based on the success of the pilot-project, we signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Cambodian Ministry of Education, allowing us to expand the program to 250 schools, reaching approximately 50,000 students.
Because of COVID-19 containment measures and lengthy school closures, we have been able to expand PLUS English to just 14 additional schools, reaching 4,200 students across the Kampong Cham Province. However, through our temporary learning measures we have managed to provide English literacy education to many more than this.
